Stadium Project Achieves Major Milestone $2 Million Gift
As Concordia sprints toward completion of the Seafoam Stadium construction project, the University also crossed the finish line on Phase 1 of its fundraising goal.  While the first swath of artificial turf was being laid on the football/soccer field, the University also received the welcome news that the stadium project has received a $2 million gift from an anonymous donor.

Forty-two Volunteers Join Schuler for Hippos 2009
Professor of Religion and Theology Dr. Mark Schuler will lead a group of 42 students and adult volunteers from the U.S., Poland and Israel for a summer of archaeological excavation and research at Hippos/Sussita – the "city set on a hill" to which Jesus referred in the Sermon on the Mount (Mt 5:14). 

Jake Schmidt is Drafted by the Chicago Cubs
Senior right handed pitcher Jake Schmidt (Oakdale, Minn.) became the first player in the history of Concordia University baseball to be selected in the Major League Baseball draft when the Chicago Cubs organization selected him in the 41st round with the 1,250th overall pick. He will be the sixth player in CU baseball history to play in an MLB organization.

Lonn Maly Tapped for Academic Affairs VP Post
Lonn Maly ('81) will become Concordia University St. Paul's new Vice President for Academic Affairs on July 1, 2009.  Maly will replace Rev. Dr. Bob DeWerff who is retiring.

Two Concordia Alumni Sign with St. Paul Saints
Chris Herbert ’09, former Golden Bears baseball player, and Steve Butler, assistant baseball coach and former Golden Bear, have signed with the Saint Paul Saints for the 2009 season to continue their careers at the professional level.
