Pon Chanthaphon ’00 and Amy (Bressler) Chanthaphon ’01 are happy to announce the birth of their son, Jonathon Solomon, born on June 3, weighing 6 lbs. 13.5 oz.

Andrea Miller ’00 married Mikkel Rygh on April 12, 2008 in her hometown of Cold Spring, Minn. The couple resides in Albertville, Minn.

Christina (Aden) Phillips ’00 is a project manager for enrollment management at RuffaloCODY.

Jared Daugherty ’01 married Mary Grail on July 19, 2003. He recently planted a church, Acts 29 in Minneapolis, Minn.

Jannelle (Ebner) Haupt ’01 left the YMCA in October 2007 after 11 years. She is now working for Kinder Care.

Samantha (Swenson) Rice ’01 married Dennis Rice on October 9, 2004. They have one child; Chloe Amelia who was born on July 29, 2007.

Andy Torzewski ’01 is married to April and they have three children; Sky (age 8), Martin (age 6) and Mira (age 5). Andy has traveled all of Europe, the Middle East, Central America and the United States. He serves as a hockey coach for Team Wisconsin (16 and under) and is part of the Stillwater Hockey Association.

Katy (Anderson) Zilmer ’01 married Trent Zilmer on October 10, 2003.

Stephen Hage ’02 married Lara Trujillo on January 4, 2008.

Michael ’02 and Gina (Hokkanen) Zurn ’01 of Henderson, Minn. gave birth to their second child, Brock Michael Zurn, on March 23, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital in Shakopee, Minn. He was 9 lbs. 2 oz. and 21.5 inches long. He is welcomed home by his big sister, Annika (age 5). Michael is a junior high teacher in Shakopee and Gina is a preschool teacher in Chanhassen, Minn.

Jill (Dahlheimer) Allen ’03 married Eric Allen on November 27, 2004 in Honolulu, Hawaii. They have a daughter, Ema Kaye Allen, who was born on January 12, 2008.

Marissa (Holcomb) Austin ’03 ’06 has been named the director of external relations for the Rivers Institute at Hanover College.
|
Reggie Clark ’03 was appointed director of diversity at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in 2008. He is responsible for facilitating greater equity and diversity through the development and implementation of policies, programs and procedures; supporting and implementing the Institute equal employment opportunity initiatives; maintaining the current Affirmative Action Plan; and overseeing training and education programs on diversity, gender and other differences designed to help both management and staff. Formerly, he served as manager of corporate recruiting at Kaleida Health System. He also has held similar positions as human resources representative at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, Minn. and Andersen Windows in Bayport, Minn. Clark earned a bachelor in Human Resources Management and a master of arts in Organizational Management with an emphasis on Human Resources from Concordia University, St. Paul, Minn.

Janet (Brownawell) Smith ’03 and her husband are celebrating the March 27, 2008 birth of their daughter Sonja Lee Smith.

Andrew Kroemer ’03 married Jen Wickland (Concordia Nebraska ’05) on October 21, 2005.

Michael Meyers ’03 and his wife are celebrating the birth of Amana Ann Meyers.

Elzbieta Murphy ’03 gave birth to twin girls on December 9, 2007. She is finishing her master’s degree in Education with a literacy focus at Hamline University. She has completed her reading program at Hamline. Elzbieta is the recipient of the St. Paul Retired Teachers Scholarship.

Danielle (Waller) Tietjen ’03 is married with two children; Noah (age 2) and Caleb (age 1). She is a stay-at-home mom who travels to speak to youth and adults across the country, encouraging them in faith and teaching the bible. She also co-founded and sits on the board of the Haiti Mission Project (haitimissionproject.org).

Anne Gleason ’04 is a course developer/instructor for Vermont’s first-ever, online, after-school, college courses through the Community College of Vermont.

Virginia (Maldonado) Lucio ’04 is pursuing her doctorate of Education at Hamline University, St. Paul. She is presently writing her dissertation and hopes to graduate with her doctorate degree in winter 2009. Virginia was awarded a Pre-doctoral Fellowship from the University of Mankato 2005-2007. Virginia traveled to Russia (St. Petersburg, Moscow and Magadan) to share parenting experiences with the Northern University of Russia.

Erin (Cook) Otis’ (’04) daughter, Isabella Rose, born April 20, 2006, passed away on October 18, 2007. Erin recently returned to work as a nanny after 18 glorious months as a stay-at-home mom. Erin is working to raise $25,000 for Faith’s Lodge in memory of Isabella.

Jeffrey Reinartz ’04 is married to Jennifer and they have a son, Jacob and a daughter, Josie. Jeffrey is a credit analyst and also a weekly columnist for the Austin Post Bulletin.

Emily (Watts) Milliman ’04 and Robert Milliman welcomed their son, Lucius Tiberius, into the world on June 20. He was 21.5 inches long and 8 lbs. 6 oz.

Kelly (Wuest) Sadlovsky ’04 is the full-time owner and director of Pathways to Play Early Learning Center. She is a part-time cohort assistant at Concordia University, St. Paul. Kelly is also a validator for the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Her daughter, Samantha Wueste, is transferring to Concordia University, St. Paul as a junior. She will be studying elementary education.

Eric Cannedy ’05 works as senior graphic designer for DCI Designs, a company based in Minneapolis. He resides in Atlanta where he is pursuing his MFA in graphic design from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Noel Gilles ’05 is a business development manager in the United States and Europe. He volunteers for BBBS as a Twin Cities Program volunteer. He is also a part of the Risk Management Association.

Dixie (Ketola) Ailts ’05 and Benjamin Ailts married on June 28, 2008. They live in Gillette, Wyo. Dixie is a teacher at a special needs school and Benjamin is working for a custom home building company.

Michael Abel ’06 is the president of the Association for the Education of Young Children of Missouri.

Signe Bradee ’06 is attending Adler Graduate School in the Marriage and Family Therapy program.

Kim (Fredricks) Bowman ’06 serves as treasurer and registrar on the board of directors for the Maplewood Athletic Association.

Alicia (Cocchiarella) Myers ’06 married Dan Myers on October 13, 2007. They reside in Woodbury, Minn.

Rose (Johnson) Gowlland ’06 ’07 is celebrating the birth of her son, Alec Darin Gowlland.

Chris Gimm ’06 was promoted to senior engineer after graduation. He is celebrating 25 years of employment at Deluxe.

Valerie Olson ’06 recently became the assistant athletic director for compliance at Concordia University, St. Paul.

Julie (Smith) Otto ’06 is working on a master’s degree in Family Life Education at Concordia University, St. Paul.

Jeana (Jopp) Perron’s (’06) daughter, Piper Marie Perron, was born on June 4, 2006.

Josh Prigge ’06 is the deputy director of global exchange at Soonchunhyang University in Korea. Josh also serves as an English instructor for Korean elementary schools, Soonchunhyan Hospital, and Asian City Hall.

Laura Rolf ’06 is a teacher licensure student pursuing an Early Childhood (birth- grade 3) license.

Nikole Smith ’06 is getting her master’s degree in Physical Education and Health at St. Cloud State. She is also a graduate assistant for the St. Cloud State softball team.

Emily (Tlusty) ’06 and Andrew Kennell were married May 30, 2008 near Emily’s hometown of Antigo, Wis. The couple resides in Kansas City, Mo.

Bethany Ash ’07 and Japheth (Jay) Schauder ’06 got engaged on June 6, 2008.

Arlecha (Clevenger) McGrath ’07 was recently promoted to training and curriculum specialist.

Corey Klanderud ’07 has been married to LaNelle Klanderud for 13 years. Corey and LaNelle have three children.

Diane Krause ’07 has been married for 28 years. She and her husband have one daughter who will attend Concordia University, St. Paul in 2009.

Michael Neterer ’07 celebrates the birth of his new son, Josiah Paul, on November 5, 2007. Josiah is the youngest of three sons; Michael, Caden (age 6) and Seth (age 8).

Alan Tousley ’07 was promoted from supervisor to quality manager in November 2007.
|
Andrew Stender ’08 was given the Chief’s Award of Merit by the Minneapolis Police Department in July for maintaining a 4.00 GPA while earning his undergraduate and graduate degrees in criminal justice at Concordia. Stender is the head trainer of the canine unit at the MPD.

Julia Tate ’08 received a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) designation in January 2008.
|
New Ulm police commander Myron Wieland ’09 was presented the 2008 Officer of the Year award by the American Legion. The award was presented at the American Legion’s annual convention in Bloomington, Minn. on July 18. Weiland was first nominated for the award by his local American Legion post and was then nominated by the Legion’s second district. He is now eligible for the award at the national level. Wieland won a similar award from the Veterans of Foreign Wars last year.
