Along the Viking Trail
Hosted by Professor Eric Dregni
This custom-designed itinerary explores the enchanting nature and modern beauty of Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The journey includes an overnight stay in Reykjavik, Iceland to enjoy the beautiful scenery and the famous Blue Lagoon. Experience Norway’s Viking roots with a visit to historic Bergen where Norway’s seafaring tradition remains vibrant along the Bryggen, the wooden wharf. Travel into Fjord Country and be surrounded by spectacular scenery. Board a ferry for a sailing along the narrow branches of the Sognefjord, the Nærøyfjord and Aurlandsfjords, widely considered the wildest and most dramatic in Norway. Pass waterfalls, sheer cliffs and isolated farms perched at unlikely angles. Ride the famous Flåm railway traveling from sea level to 2800 feet in 12 miles. Stay in the mountain resort town of Geilo where locals vigorously enjoy nature year-round. See how modern design co-exists alongside Viking history in Oslo. Also, enjoy a train ride through the pastoral Swedish countryside as well as a three-night stay in the enchanting city of Stockholm.
Discovering France's Historic Seine River
Hosted by President Tom & Susie Ries
A seven-night cruise on a modern river ship along the Seine River is being planned for 2018. Beginning and ending in Paris, France’s City of Lights, this cruise explores the city of Rouen and includes an excursion to the historic Normandy beaches along with the American Military cemetery and the Arromanches Dèbarkment Museum. Other visits to include Monet’s Giverny and Versailles plus an exploration of Paris. Of course, no visit to France is complete without savoring French cuisine along the way, such as Camembert cheese or Calvados, a brandy made with local apples. Plan your 2018 travel calendar to include this experience. More details provided as information becomes available.
